• polis- a city state in Greece
• the importance of the year508 bc to the ancient Greeks- the first time in human history that the common people revolted against their leaders, and they made somebody their leader who introduced democracy to the Greeks.
• Socrates- a Greek philosopher, who is credited as one of the founders of western philosophy. when he was a young man he was a stone mason. 
• the death of Socrates- he was given poisoned hemlock which killed him slowly and painfully. 
• the Socratic method- he would ask a series of questions to try and understand the opinion of random people and he wanted to here what their felling were about certain topics. the Socratic method would eventually lead to the creating of the scientific method.
